This project was an excellent project that incorporated history into it. To start off this lesson, we went through a PowerPoint presentation that discussed Van Gogh's life and the different artwork that he created. Then, we set off to create our own Van Gogh inspired art pieces. I chose to create a sort of South Dakota sunset image. For my background, I used tissue paper to create the pretty pinkish sky. Then, I added a windmill and haybail to create a landscape. After this, I used oil pastels to add Van Gogh like swirls to my image. This could be incorporated into a history lesson. After this art lesson, students could learn more about Van Gogh's time and how it was different from the life we know now.
