Elements and Principles of Art

This was such a fun group project and presentation. In the pictures above, from order of top to bottom, the first image shows symmetry. If we split the image of the candles, it would be the same or symmetrical. Next, the NSU Foundation image shows contrast. This image shows contrast in that the difference in the light and dark in the image makes the NSU Foundation symbol pop. The third image of the racecar shows depth of field. This shows depth of field because it shows the difference in distance in the image. The next picture of the monument shows texture. The stone itself is textured so that comes through in the image. The last image shows shape. This picture shows different geometric shapes in it, such as a rhombus. As a way to integrate this into other subjects and as an extension activity, students could create a PowerPoint using the elements and principles of design. However, in this presentation, students will have to write about how the elements and principles correlate to math. For example, if students show shapes, they can give examples of diffrent organic and geometric shapes.
